In 2012, Clariant initiated a program to promote more family friendly job opportunities. As part of this program, all mothers are guaranteed a comparable position upon their return to work of up to one year following the birth or adoption of a child. For the two years following the birth or adoption, Clariant grants mothers ten days of paid leave for family purposes, in addition to their standard annual vacation. Correspondingly, this provision is available to fathers as well. Approximately 10 419 males and females were entitled to this provision in 2015. From the 282 mothers and 282 fathers who took advantage of this opportunity, 432 returned back to their workplace in 2015, of which 193 were females and 239 were males (return rate for mothers: 68 %, for males: 85 %). Of these, 186 female and 227 male employees were still employed twelve months after their return to work (retention rate females: 96 %, male 95%).
