Clariant wants to ascertain the opinions, interests, and trends among the stakeholders on the subject of sustainability and initiated a purposeful dialog with these groups within the framework of the Portfolio Value Program. Together with the »Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production« (CSCP) in Wuppertal, Clariant determined relevant aspects and topics about sustainability for Clariant and the stakeholders. This analysis is part of a comprehensive and long-term program that has been initiated by Clariant in order to address sustainability in innovative ways and to foster a continuing dialog about it. The exchange and cooperation with the relevant stakeholders are an integral part of the program. The determination of essential aspects was a first step to initiate a continuing dialog with important opinion leaders and experts from associations, non-governmental organizations, politics, science, research facilities, and public interest organizations. In 2015, the dialog has been pursued in the Clariant Sustainability Dialog for the first time and on an even broader basis.
With this event, Clariant launched a platform that also promotes direct exchange with customers, suppliers, partners, policy-makers and the media. Around 150 participants attended the event at the Clariant Innovation Center in Frankfurt (Germany) in September 2015. Clariant’s sustainability strategy and the commitment to continuous improvement - in close collaboration with its business partners - were the focus of the event. Other key topics of the event were the state of Clariant’s sustainability efforts in India and China for supply chain collaboration, for example.
On November 2 Clariant hosted its second Sustainability Dialog event in Shanghai, China, to discuss the role of sustainability in response to trends impacting the specialty chemicals industry in the Greater China region. The event brought together around 200 participants including Clariant's top management, internal and external subject matter experts, customers, suppliers and representatives from government, industry associations, and the media – to foster discussion on sustainability and to explore relevant trends for the specialty chemicals industry in the region.
